International House USA is an affiliate of International House World Organisation, a network of over 110 schools located in over 30 countries, all committed to the highest standards in education and training.

We have a total of three IH centers in the United States — two of which are located in Santa Monica and San Diego, and one center located in Portland, Oregon. There are short-term/part-time programs currently being offered in San Francisco, California.

Our mission as a non-profit educational trust is to raise language education in compliance with the IH World standards worldwide. Whereas all of our schools are independently owned and managed, they all adhere to the same codes of practice and follow rigorous inspections to ensure they offer the same high quality education and related language services.

We believe that language learning takes place not only in the classroom but also outside the classroom — in social settings, with families, with new friends, with other learners. We encourage our students to take full advantage of their time with us to extend all that is learned in the classroom to natural situations in which their new language can be fully used and practiced.

International House USA has an undisputed reputation for training language teachers and in the development of practical training courses for teachers. Our teacher-training courses are renowned for producing the most able, creative, and professional language teachers, many of whom have gone on to write some of the best course and resource books available in our profession.
