CORPORATE LANGUAGE TRAINING 2004 If the aim of your company is to

to provide a results-driven language training program. Corporate
Language Training courses are for your employees who have
at least one year of work experience and need either more
English or a foreign language to be more effective in their
jobs. Companies may elect one or more courses and continue
the program until the target level is achieved. Each course
is normally 30 hours, which takes 10 weeks to complete.
More intensive programs can be designed on request. Courses
for individuals also may be booked for one or more weeks.
Start dates are all by mutual agreement and classes may
be held either at our location or on your company premises.
Eclectic
method—using the best of skill-building approaches
in listening and speaking is where we put the emphasis of
each course. Certified teachers of foreign languages provide
customize instruction. Only the target language is spoken
in class. A user's knowledge of a foreign language is ultimately
judged by his or her ability to speak the language rather
than how to read or write it. At IH, we spend the
bulk of our teaching time on building the learner's skills
and confidence in speaking and listening. In the elementary
levels we will focus on fluency building, making sure the
learner has a good grasp of the sound system in the target
language, providing conversation 'gambits', then building
the learner's ability to ask questions in the target language.
At the higher levels, speaking skills will be developed
by helping learners express complex ideas in the target
language. Learning a language has many similarities to learning
a musical instrument; first are the exercises, then comes
the ability to 'play without the music'. Our goal is to
help learners speak confidently in public with as few errors
as possible.
Often employees are sent abroad to attend meetings or conferences.
IH has 130 schools worldwide that can be utilized
to arrange intensive pre-meeting or pre-conference courses
in the country where the meeting is organized so that the
employee has a chance to become fully immersed in the language
and culture before the meeting begins. Course prices vary
according to the destination.

has pioneered the virtual classroom through its NetLanguages
online courses. Now you can extend your studies in either
English or Spanish just by logging-on from your home or
office twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Each
client at International House will have the opportunity
to add a NetLanguage course to any course currently being
taken.
SPEAKING CLUB Extend your classroom learning
by joining our speaking club; offered in English and Spanish.
Practice with native speakers of the target language in
a natural speaking environment.
